Round 1 plays (1pt):

Robert Allenby to beat Steve Stricker -116 @ Bet365  TIED
Robert Allenby to beat Padraig Harrington +100 @ Pinnacle [also available @ Boyle Sports and WSEX]  LOST by 3
Allenby showed on Sunday why he is such a frustrating player to back in outrights, but he's quite a different proposition in matchups. He has made 30 consecutive cuts on the PGA Tour, has five top-5 finishes in his last ten strokeplay events and has a good record on this course (including being the 1st round leader two years ago). Stricker has traditionally struggled on this course and in Florida and is much less consistent, while Pod just looks like a player who will be only motivated by Majors - his last three starts have yielded MDF, MC and a 1st round exit in the World Matchplay.

Kenny Perry to beat Davis Love +105 @ Five Dimes  TIED
I can't see why Love is a strong favourite in this matchup. Perry has been the better player for quite a few years and there has been very little evidence of that being reversed this year - e.g. he has already won once (FBR Open) and has two further top-10 finishes; Love has just one.

Louis Oosthuizen to beat Ben Curtis -110 @ Five Dimes  WON by 4
Ousthuizen has played in five strokeplay events in 2009 and has finished in the top-10 in every one. He did lose in the 1st round of the World Matchplay two weeks ago, but that was to Rory McIlroy and he has now had another couple of weeks to get used to American courses.

Pat Perez to beat Ross Fisher +109 @ Unibet  WON by 1
