Finishing Positions (0.5pt stake)
Loss 5 pts. In hindsight the fact that the PGA
tour ran a co-sanctioned event close-by in Korea meant that the depth of
field was not that good here. For Dredge to shoot +3 from Friday onwards
and never come close to giving us a profit is a sad indictment of this
field.
Buy Bradley Dredge at 26 with
Cantor Sports
Firstly, please note the plans below for the 2005 season, which,
although we are 5 weeks short of waiting on Santa, starts tomorrow.
Anyway, Dredge. Bradley has played on this side of the world 3 times and
has posted 2 missed cuts and a 30th place. He is a false 2nd favourite
with bookmakers as the advantage that the home players have is massive
and we are talking of course about a player who on his own Tour in 04'
has only posted one top 10 (Spanish Open). I would pitch Dredge as about
a 30-33 shot here so 26 is the best bet on a list of spreads which is
quite disappointing. We have 4 events being covered by firms but only
sporadically. IG for instance offer indices and 72H matches but no FP's.
Why not give a full service to this event where there is TV coverage all
4 days.
2005 Plans.
I found during 2004 that getting a good value 72H MB was difficult and
the time trying to ultimately did not result in a sufficient no. of
bets. Indices and Hotshots bets were difficult to find as well as the
value bets were usually sells and we therefore had to come up with a
price that justified the risk involved if it all went wrong. However, FP
betting throughout the year was constant. As the Racing Post golf
tipster said in a recent piece, it is the truest form of spread betting
on golf. If you back a player to do well and he does you win, if you
back him outright and he gets the Sunday wobbles then you may lose at
the death. In FP betting you might just lose a little of the potential
return. In 05' i would hope to put far more bets up in running than
previously, reacting to prices out of line on players who have or have
not started well at the beginning of the week. Therefore, although
Dredge is the only standout I can see so far I would hope more bets
appeal as the week continues. Please look back for further bets
in-running.
