FINAL RESULT: 1-2; +27.94pts
Allenby 21st
Parry 29th
Green 1st
With all three players in the top-10 after two rounds, I was hopeful
of a decent return, but it always looked like it would be Allenby who
would win it. Green is certainly a surprise winner, particularly as
Bradley Hughes had a one-shot lead on the last tee and took a
double-bogey!
Outright plays (1.5pts):
Robert Allenby to win 12/1 e.w. available
generally
I don't see what Allenby has done to make him so much the outsider of
the four leading players. Lonard will face incredible pressure to win
for a fourth straight week, Appleby has just got back from Sun City and
Scott has faced public criticism for playing in a Skins game rather than
his national Open and missed the cut last week. Allenby, on the other
hand, is the defending champion with an excellent record on this course,
has finished in the top-10 in his last three events in Florida, Japan
and Australia and hasn't finished outside the top-10 in an event in
Australia since February 2002.
Craig Parry to win 25/1 e.w. @
BetInternet
Persevering with Parry. He has shown good form recently even though he
hasn't managed to stay in the top-5 until the end of Sunday in recent
weeks. A former winner on this course and defeated by Allenby last year
only after a playoff, it all points to Parry being there or thereabouts
on Sunday yet again.
Richard Green to win 33/1 e.w. available
generally
Green's record on this course is not as impressive, but a 5th place
finish two years is evidence that he can provide a return on this play
this year. And he does enter this event in very good form with top-20
finishes in each of his last four starts. It was a slow start last week,
which was understandable after he gave away a golden opportunity to win
the Australian Open the previous week, but he finished strongly and
should close out his season with a high finish this week.
