New Zealand PGA Championship

Round One Trades

Sell Peter Senior over Scott Gutchewski 18H MB at 0 with Sporting Index for 0.75 pts. (M/U 0, Profit 0 pts)

Gutchewski had a Top 5 finish last week and is clearly in a bit of form. He is off of the Nationwide tour in the
States and this is, like last week, a co-sanctioned event with that tour. In 2003 he had 3 Top 10 finishes from
September onwards. He missed the cut on the main tour in the AT & T at the start of the year but has shown
a bit of current form with last weeks' 5th.  Senior meanwhile is losing a bit of form that he had in Dec/January.
He was
35th last week after missing the cut in the ANZ the week before. Prior to that he had 5 top 20's in a row.
We suggest getting with the up and coming American here off a handicap free start.

Round Two Trades

Sell Peter Senior over Scott Gutchewski 18H MB at 0 with Sporting Index for 0.75 pts. (M/U 22, Profit -16.5pts)

It was fair at 0 yesterday so is fair again today for all the same reasons. Gutchewski was one up on the last but bogeyed it so unfortunately we made no gain on the first day's bet. He is fancied today though to finish ahead.

Round Three Trades

Sell Stuart Bouvier over Doug Labelle 18H MB at 1.5ch with Sporting Index for 0.75 pts. (M/U -16, Profit 10.88 pts)

Labelle should possibly be a clear favourite here. Bouvier, bar a 15th in the NZ Open, has a very poor record in recent times. 9 missed cuts since the start of 2002 in 16 starts, and a 2nd best position of 28th, he has done well to reach the weekend this week. Labelle is an average Nationwide tour player who has had 5 Top 25's in the last year and had a respectable 23rd place in last weeks Jacob's Creek Open.

Buy Ryuji Imada over Dean Alaban 18H MB at 1.5ch with Sporting Index for 0.75 pts. (M/U -16, Profit -13.12 pts.)

Imada has been on a poor run recently, MC in his last two events, it is a far cry from 6 Top 25's in a row on the Nationwide tour in the autumn. The fact he has made this weekend means that he has certainly picked up some form compared to the last two weeks. Alaban plays the local Australasian tour and the Asian PGA and a 9th and 20th place are the best finishes which are mixed in with a lot of finishes down the field and a above average % of MC's. Imada should be clear favourite in a similar way to Labelle in the other match.

Round Four Trades

Sell Barry Cheesman over Paul Claxton 18H MB at 2 with Sporting Index for 0.75 pts. (M/U 25, Profit -17.25pts)

Going with Claxton here at the price offered. Cheesman MC last week in the Jacob's but has turned his game around this week to contend. However the last three times he has been in contention he has failed to break 70 and not made any impression at the top end of the leaderboard. Claxton has been a fair form without shooting the lights out. When has been in contention though he has tended to shoot lower in R4 so his R4 stats do seem to be a bit more reliable than Cheesman's.

Summary

-36pts on this tour and with the European Tour heading towards Europe i will be glad to see the back of these co-sanctioned events this year. Normally these are good betting tours as there is less known about some of the players but the results just haven't worked out this year.
