Kenya Open
FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -3.00pts
Higgins 10th
Hoey withdrawn
Simsek 32nd Had hoped for much better when pre-tournament favourite
Higgins started the final round just one shot behind the two
inexperienced leaders. As expected, neither of them won, but there was
no comeback from Higgins after he started with successive bogeys. Outright plays
(total stake per play: 1pt) David Higgins to win 14/1 e.w. @

Higgins returned to Tour golf last year after losing his main Tour Card
in 2002 and had he played a full schedule, he might well have secured
his main Tour Card again. He closed the 2004 Challenge Tour season with
four top-5s and a 12th place finish in his last five events. He carried
that form over to this season with a 3rd place finish in Mexico and was
defeated in a playoff in Guatemala two weeks ago. The Irishman has
declared his renewed commitment and determination to get back on the
main Tour and is certainly showing the form to do so in a hurry.
Michael Hoey to win 16/1 e.w. @

Northern Ireland's Michael Hoey also ranks in this year's top-5 of the
Challenge Tour rankings after three top-5 finishes in six co-sanctioned
events with the Tour de la Americas. So with a good record on this
continent from having finished 4th in Zambia and 3rd on this course in
the Challenge Tour's two events here last year, he looks set to continue
his good form on the latest leg of the Challenge Tour schedule.
Erol Simsek to win 33/1 e.w. @
SkyBet
A five-time winner on this Tour. Simsek has shown good form on this Tour
to finish no worse than 34th in the last six months and has three top-10
finishes in his last six Challenge Tour starts. With a top-10 finish on
this course last and a 13th place finish in other previous appearance in
the Kenya Open, albeit on a different course, the former main Tour
player certainly has the experience to go close again in Kenya. |
