Travis Perkins Senior Masters
FINAL RESULT: 0-3; -6.00pts
Cali 34th
Oakley 29th
Good 10th
What a frustrating final day! Good had been in 2nd place overnight,
but was always slipping down the leaderboard and he finished three shots
out of an extremely profitable place win. And to rub salt in the wound,
the two players that I eschewed in favour of the outsider strategy
finished well clear of the field, Torrance 1st (16/1) and Ebihara 2nd
(14/1). Maybe I should stick with the more dependable players!
Outright plays (2pts):
Guiseppe Cali to win 66/1 e.w. @

Among the favourites, I do think Torrance and Ebihara have a very good
chance of victory, but a place finish from any of these selections will
earn just as much, if not more, than a win with either Torrance or
Ebihara. And it would not be too much of a surprise if Cali were placed.
He has finished in the top-4 in each of the last tow weeks and was a
very creditable 13th in the Senior British Open the previous week. With
a 7th place finish on his debut on the Edinburgh course at Wentworth
last year, there is every reason to expect another competitive
performance from the Italian.
David Oakley to win 80/1 e.w. @
Stan James
One of Oakley's four wins on this Tour came in this event in 2001,
having finished 3rd the previous year. He also added another win last
month when he was tied for the lead with one round to play and shot 68,
but was still denied by Seiji Ebihara. It was his second consecutive
runners-up finish and he also finished 6th two weeks ago, so he is in
good form. It is certainly unusual that a recent winner on a course, who
is ranked 5th on a Tour Money List is available at these odds.
David Good to win 100/1 e.w. @

Good is another player in the top-10 on the Money List and that is due
to eleven top-20 finishes in thirteen European Senior Tour events,
including the Senior British Open. As a player who has also finished in
the top-20 in each of the last four years here, he certainly looks
capable of securing a place win.
